Question: Social media and prospective families

I want to invite prospective families to get involved in our online community. Facebook is our most interactive tool, while the blog gets less action. Should I friend prospective families? Seems too intrusive. Currently we give them the link to our blog; feels like we want to welcome them AND engage them. But I don't want to overwhelm with our daily FB posts.

  1. I had a like us on Facebook link at the bottom of my weekly e-newsletter for awhile and each time I sent it out another batch of parents join on.

What about just mentioning to prospective families that they might want to check you out by friending you on FB so they can get an informal and personal sense of what's going on in the school?

  3. Can you also add a "like us" comment to your email signature? I've done that with my twitter account.
